The CRISP project compiles coral reef temperature data collected directly from the environment (in situ) and organizes it into an open and accessible repository. As climate change continues to threaten these ecosystems, our platform serves as a valuable resource for both scientists and the public. By providing clear insights into temperature variations, CRISP enhances understanding of coral reef dynamics and their response to environmental changes.

CRISP is publicly available as a NetCDF file on Zenodo. You can access the published version of our repository here.

Submit Data
We are willing to work with your data no matter what form it is in. However, we do have a preferred way of receiving the data. Read below for suggested data submission steps and format.
1. Gather Metadata
See below for a list of all needed and additional metadata. If preferred, you can download our metadata CSV template (Metadata Template).
2. Gather Temperature Data
If your data files seem to be similar to one of the below formats, you can download the template and use that as a guide to format your data files. If your data files do not match any of the following formats, please note this in the comments box while uploading your files.
Note: If your time is recorded in MM/DD/YYYY format make sure you use Format A and if your time is recorded in DD/MM/YYYY format please use Format E.
3. Prepare Your Files
Organize your files to follow the provided templates as best as possible. If your files do not match the template exactly, you can still upload them if they contain the required information (site name, coordinates, depth, date, time, and temperature).
4. Submit Your Data
Use the File Upload Portal below or email us at [email protected] to submit your data and accompanying metadata. You will receive an acknowledgment email once your data is received and processed.

Each submission must include a metadata file and at least one data file in CSV format. You may also upload multiple metadata and data files together in a zipped folder if needed.

Note: We require site name, coordinates, depth, date, time and temperature to incorporate your data into our program. If you have these data but don't have the instrument type, calibration, or any other supplementary information, you can still submit your data.

- Column 1 has date (MM/DD/YYYY) and time (24-hour clock) and column 2 has temperature (°C).
- Format B Template
- Column1 has date (MM/DD/YYYY), column 2 has time (24-hour clock), column 3 has temperatue (°C).
- Format C Template
- Column 1 has year (YYYY), column 2 has month (MM), column 3 has day (DD), column 4 has hour (hh), column 5 has minute (mm), column 6 has second (ss), column 7 has temperature (°C)
- Format D Template
- Column 1 has time (24-hour clock), column 2 has date (MM/DD/YYYY), and column 3 has temperature (°C).
- Format E Template
- Column 1 has date (DD/MM/YYYY) and time (24 hour clock), column 2 has temperature (°C).
- Format F Template
- Column 1 has date (YYYY/MM/DD) and time (24 hour clock + 00:00), and column 2 has temperature (°C).

- DOI if temperature data was published

- Time zone data was collected in
- If time in data file(s) are in GMT or local time
