CoralCT

The New CoralCT App
CoralCT is a computer application for analyzing annual growth rates in computed tomography (CT) scans or X-ray images of coral skeletal cores. Coral cores are the most valuable archive of annually-resolved ocean variability over recent decades to centuries. Additionally, the growth records extracted from these cores provide scientists with crucial information regarding how corals are faring in a rapidly warming and acidifying ocean.

We need your help. Analysis of growth records in these cores requires visual interpretation, and that's where you come in. The CoralCT app is linked to a virtual core repository (currently containing about 1,400 cores). Yet, not all of them have been analyzed, and the more observers analyze each core, the more reliable the data become. We are seeking participation from scientists and the public alike to work together in a community effort aimed at building well-replicated analyses of all of the cores in CoralCT. Please see instructional materials below for how to get started contributing.

Most of the growth rate data are publicly available, with some restricted per researchers' requests for unpublished datasets. We are also seeking additional coral CT scan contributions from scientists (these can be submitted through the app).
